Welcome To the Selling Gal’s Amazon Blog!

Hi, and welcome to my blog! Come here for the latest news and updates that affect anyone selling on Amazon. As you probably already know, the world of retail sales has gone largely online, and that will only increase with time. Amazon is currently the largest online marketplace.

Although Amazon faces a small amount of competition in various niches, such as with Vitacost in the health and beauty category), Amazon’s only major competitor overall is Walmart. According to Forbes, Amazon is expected to surpass Walmart, maybe as soon as 2020, as the largest retailer in the world.

What does that mean for you as an Amazon seller, or as an aspiring Amazon seller? It means you still have an incredible opportunity with Amazon! Third-party sellers make up about 60% of Amazon’s sales!

That is a lot of third-party sellers! Is there really room for you? The answer is a resounding YES! We are not talking about a marketplace that has already peaked. This is a marketplace that is growing faster than Amazon can keep up.

The reason for the growth is the same reason retail sales always grow: consumer demand.  Consumers are turning to e-commerce more and more due to the convenience and selection available online. This is especially true since the COVID-19 pandemic started.

As long as the demand continues to grow, Amazon will have to rely on third-party sellers to keep up with the demand. The faster consumer demand grows, the more third-party sellers Amazon will need on its platform just to keep up, and the more opportunity there will be for third-party sellers.

If you have been wondering whether you should try to break into Amazon, my answer is YES, but now is the time. There is no way to know how long this growth stage will last, so now is the time to get in. The sooner you get in, the longer you will be able to take advantage of the incredible growth Amazon is experiencing.
