The Mindset Miracle
The Winning Combination to Unlock Your Amazon Business Success
Are you struggling to get your Amazon business off the ground?
Are you frustrated with the pace at which your business is moving forward?
Are you on the verge of giving up on your Amazon business?
Are you thinking about starting an Amazon business?
Selling on Amazon requires specialized knowledge. You must know how the Amazon platform works. You must know how to do market research. You must know how to write optimized listings and create optimized advertising campaigns. You then have to learn how to work various types of tools and software to help everything function.
This does take a great deal of learning. Most people who want to get started on Amazon go out and look for a course, watch videos on youtube, use google, or try various methods to learn on their own. While this learning is required, most people neglect the mindset aspect.
If you have owned a business before, you understand the challenging aspects of entrepreneurship. Every business type comes with its own set of challenges. This is no less true of an Amazon business than any other business. If this will be your first major business venture, you may be surprised at the challenges that come your way.
Are you prepared for those challenges? Will you continue to move your business forward when you experience a delay or a setback? Will you adapt your business as needed to make it more successful? Will you do whatever it takes? Or will discouragement bring about the end of your business?
What Is The Secret?
The secret is there is no secret! Success in business is a matter of taking action, applying your knowledge, sticking with it and refusing to quit, even when things get hard. Successful business owners share many of the same traits. How many of these traits do you have?
- They understand their business’s most important asset is themselves, therefore they invest in themselves and take care of themselves.
- They stay in a constant state of learning, so they are always up-to-date on the latest trends and technology in their fields.
- They adapt to changes in the industry and to any changes in their personal lives or business, as necessary.
- They have a never-quit attitude. No matter how hard things get, whether in the learning stage, the beginning stage, or at any other point in their businesses.
- They see hardships as opportunities for growth.
- They are willing to work hard, put in long hours, and do work that is not necessarily pleasant.
- They make sacrifices personally and professionally to make their businesses grow and thrive.
- They are confident.
- They think long-term. They make financial decisions for their businesses based on what they see months or even years down the road.
- They understand that when they invest money in their business, it could take months or more to see the full return on that investment, but they keep investing anyway.
- They understand risk and reward and therefore do not shrink back from taking calculated risks.
- They do not allow life’s distractions to interfere with their businesses.
- They are committed to doing whatever it takes to succeed.
- They make smart choices to create the best balance between time and money.
- They outsource when they need to.
- They network with other like-minded business people.
- They set smart goals.
- They see themselves as successful business people even before their businesses become successful.
- They make business decisions based on logic and never emotion. They are methodical in their approach.
- They NEVER give up! When delays, setbacks, and discouragement come, they power through it!
Do You Have What It Takes?
It would be easy to read through this list and tell yourself that yes, that’s me, I can do that. But it may not be as easy as you think. Business people often get up early and stay up late. They watch little to no TV. They are focused. They work hard even when they don’t feel like it. They face discouragement and bad news with resolve and refuse to let it stop them. They have distractions in life vying for their time and attention, but they prioritize their businesses. They balance business life with family life, the same way one would with a regular job. They are disciplined, regimented, and focused.
Sometimes, when you are starting a business, you have to work seven days a week, and for much more than eight hours per day, even if you have a full-time job. It is not sustainable long-term, but are you willing to go through that for a period of time if that is what it takes to reach your goal?
Most people say they would be willing to work hard temporarily to have an easy life in a few years, where they only work a few hours per week. However, most people have never done it, and that is for a reason.
Working long hours for weeks, months, or longer is harder than you might think in the beginning before you have experienced unexpected delays, self-doubt, doubts about your business, and feelings of discouragement. It takes consistent daily decisions. Some days, you feel like just taking a break and watching TV, but if you make that small choice too often, your business could stagnate. It is a matter of consistently denying your feelings and sticking with it, even when it does not feel good. The small daily choices are the ones that matter the most because the results from these accumulate.
You also face the money issue. Business expenses are often higher than you anticipate. You will feel nickeled and dimed to death quite often.
If you invest in your first products, and they do not sell well, will you give up?
What if your first product does sell well, but your advertising costs eat up all your profits and then some? This is a common scenario for Amazon sellers. Will you give up? You will still have to pay for your next order to restock that inventory. You may have to tap into credit cards or personal loans before you start realizing consistent profits. Can you stomach that?
Debt is often regarded negatively in personal finance, but in business, leveraging your credit to improve cash flow is often the best strategy, even if in the short-term when you are getting started, it feels extra risky. Can you stomach that? Can you go through a period of time where you have to leverage your credit before profits start coming in?
This is not to discourage you from starting your Amazon business or to encourage you to quit if you are in the early stages or feeling stagnant. Every business decision you make should be strategic and educated. You should know upfront whether you have the resources you need to make it succeed. And the mindset resources are just as important as the knowledge, time, and even money resources.
The truth is, you CAN get to that place where you have a 6- or 7-figure income from your Amazon business while only working a few hours per week. You CAN enjoy an easy life living your dreams while your Amazon business pays for it. But it isn’t going to START that way. Remember, you cannot always start where you want to end up. You have to start from where you are and work towards where you want to end up.
If you have taken a realistic look at this list of traits and realize you have fallen short, does that mean you should give up on your dream? Does it mean you should start a different kind of business? Or forget about starting your own business altogether?
The answer to this last question is a resounding NO! There is no magic bullet. There is no “easy” business. All businesses you start on your own are going to require time, money, hard work, and the same combination of traits. While all of this is true, there is good news. You can develop the necessary mindset to be a successful entrepreneur. My primary purpose at The Selling Gal is to help you do exactly that. My webinar series, The Mindset Miracle, will show you exactly how to develop these traits so you CAN be an amazing business person whose success is inevitable!
